Dr. Dan Bader is Professor of Bio-engineering and Tissue Health at the University of Southampton, UK.

Dr. Bader studied Physics at Liverpool University, followed by an MSc in Medical Physics and a PhD at Southampton University. He moved to the University of Oxford Orthopaedic Engineering Center, where his research focused on engineering aspects of pressure ulcer prevention. He later moved to Queen Mary, University of London, as a lecturer in biomaterials, and later was appointed Professor of Medical Engineering in the Department of Engineering.

Dr. Bader’s research interests include: the translation of bioengineering solutions in the prevention of pressure ulcers; quantifiable imaging of soft tissues; biomechanical conditioning of cell seeded constructs for tissue engineering; and cell/tissue biomechanics in health and disease.

Dr. Bader has published over 150 referred scientific papers and edited three books. Since 2000, he has been a Part-Time Professor in Soft Tissue Remodeling in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands and, more recently, a Visiting Professor in Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the University of Malaya. In 2006, he was elected onto the World Council of Biomechanics. In 2010 he was elected as a Trustee of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP). In 2011 he earned the Experienced Investigators Award from the EPUAP.
