Dan Allen

Dan Allen helped pioneer the introduction of surgical stapling to a broad range of surgical procedures. A unique chain of events then led him to develop the first booted surgical leg holder, which is known as the Allen Stirrup.The knowledge that there was a high prevalence of OR related patient positioning injuries was Dan's impetus to begin what has been a career-long study of ergonomics, anatomy and physiology relating to surgical patient positioning. He continues to be involved in the creation, development, pioneering and marketing of innovative surgical table accessory devices.

Dan's presentation addresses the continuing generational improvements of patient positioning devices and their relationship to innovations in surgical techniques. He will share his experiences, helpful techniques, knowledge and passion for reducing injuries related to patient positioning.
