Dale Bailey MA, PhD

Professor Dale Bailey is a principal physicist in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Royal North Shore Hospital and a Professor in Medical Radiation Science at the University of Sydney. He earned undergraduate and master’s degrees in physics from the University of Technology (UTS), Sydney, and his doctorate from the University of Surrey (UK). Prior to his current position, Professor Bailey has also held research appointments at Harvard Medical School, with the Medical Research Council (UK) at Hammersmith Hospital, London, and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital.

Dale’s expertise and interests are in quantitative imaging with SPECT, more recently employing X-ray CT in combination with SPECT imaging. Furthermore, he’s also made contributions in developing techniques to measure cerebral activation in PET, assessing aerosol distribution in vivo using 3D methods, measuring changes in mucus clearance rates after therapeutic interventions, and in mapping airways ventilation patterns.
