Dag Harmsen PhD

Dr. Dag Harmsen, a renowned physician specializes in clinical microbiology and infectious disease epidemiology. The researcher, who published the world’s first study applying Bruker’s MALDI ToF MS system to microbiological diagnostics, has been a professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster, Germany, since 2004. Dr. Dag Harmsen is well known for having provided popular bioinformatics solutions in applied microbiology for more than 20 years, such as MRSA typing (JCM 2003; 41:5442) or the MIRU-VNTR service for M. tuberculosis typing (Nucleic Acids Res 2010; 38: W326).

Several staff members from both the Microbiology & the Health Protection Departments accompanied Dr. Dag Harmsen on a guided tour of the microbiology and food monitoring laboratories. After the tour, the group gathered for a very interesting and enriching discussion, joined by stakeholders.
