Cynthia Louise Comella MD

Cynthia L. Comella, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Neurological Sciences at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Smith College with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and completed her medical training at the University of Cincinnati Medical College.

She did her internal medicine and neurology residencies at Rush University Medical Center where she also completed fellowships both in movement disorders and sleep disorders. She is an active member of the Movement Disorders Society, with service on the Executive Committee, the Congress Scientific Programming Committee, the Continuing Medical Education Committee and as the first Chair of the Education committee. She was the first woman officer in the MDS and served as Secretary of the society.

She currently chairs the MDS Publications Oversight committee and the Leadership Taskforce. One of her interests is in the practice of leadership, and she recently completed leadership training at the Sonoma Systems Leadership Challenge program.
