Cynthia Hougum Ph.D, BS

Dr. Cynthia Hougum serves as senior vice president of global quality transformation for Terumo BCT, a nearly USD $1 billion, mission-driven biomedical company focused on unlocking the potential of blood and cell-based therapies. She possesses 25 years of enterprise leadership experience serving in general management and executive leadership roles across GE’s Plastics, Healthcare Life Sciences, and Xcellerex businesses. This included integrating multiple acquisitions, launching new products, leading global engineering teams, transforming plant operations and leveraging “big data” across GE’s industrial supply chain.

In addition to leading global quality transformation, Cynthia is taking a leadership role in building world-class, compliant infrastructure for Terumo BCT’s continued growth, including our work to expand across geographies to ultimately serve more patients. Cynthia holds a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Viterbo University. She is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Cynthia enjoys singing in a choir with her daughter, traveling with her family and practicing tai chi.
