Cristobalina Mayorga PhD

Cristobalina Mayorga graduated in Biological Sciences and obtained a PhD in Biology from the University of Malaga. His research activity for more than 20 years has focused mainly on clinical research on the study of allergic reactions to drugs, which have different pathophysiological mechanisms. In the study of immediate reactions the specificity and cross reactivity of IgE antibodies to drugs has been determined, which has allowed an improvement of the in vitro methodology.

In the last years his work has focused on the study of the implication of different cellular subtypes in this type of reactions analyzing both the cellular markers like cytokines, chemokines, chemokine receptors and skin and peripheral blood transcription factors, noting the importance of response monitoring. In addition, the ability of dendritic cells as drug presenters in allergic reactions, as well as their interaction with NK lymphocytes, has been analyzed and their implication in this type of reactions is verified.
