Cristiano Menezes is a Brazilian orthopedist with extensive experience in the treatment of various conditions that affect the spine. Specialist in vertebral deformities and minimally invasive spine surgery, he was a Fellow in Spine Surgery at the renowned Texas Back Institute, in Dallas / USA.

He graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais – UFMG (1999) and holds a Ph.D. in Health Sciences Applied to the Locomotor Apparatus from the Faculty of Medicine of USP/ Ribeirão Preto. Visiting Professor at the Department of Locomotor Apparatus (ALO) at UFMG.

He is currently head of the Spine Surgery Service at Hospital Ortopédico/ Vila da Serra, which is a Service accredited by the Brazilian Spine Society and a reference center in international training AOSpine (Columna Institute/ HVS/ Biocor).

Director of the Columna Institute.

President of the Brazilian Spine Society (SBC) 2021/22, he was also president of SBOT-MG for the year 2018 and vice-president of the SBC Minimally Invasive Surgery Committee (2010-12).

Board member of the Brazilian Spine Society (2013-22); Member of the Board of the Brazilian Chapter of AOSpine; Delegate, Faculty, and Chairman of several AOSpine Latin America courses. Education Officer at AOSPINE Latam for the period 2023-26.

He was the Regional Director for Latin America at SOLAS (Society of Lateral Access Surgery). He is part of the editorial board of the journals Coluna / Columna, SciTechnol-Journal of Spine and Neurosurgery, Revista Brasileira de Ortopedia (RBO), and International Journal of Spine Surgery and SPINE. He chaired the III Brazilian Congress of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, held in 2012 in Salvador / BA.

President of the XV Brazilian Spine Congress, which was held in Belo Horizonte/MG, in 2015.
