Cristiana Caliceti PhD

Dr. Cristiana Caliceti was born in Bologna (Italy). In 2007 she graduated in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies at the University of Bologna and in 2011 she obtained the PhD degree in Biochemistry. Part of her research activity was conducted at the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Illinois at Chicago (Chicago, Illinois, US) as a visiting PhD student in the lab of Prof. Masuko Ushio-Fukai.

She won several post-doc fellowships at the University of Ferrara, in the Department of Medical Sciences in the field of the cardiovascular system, estrogens, Notch signaling, and redox signaling. In September 2015 she became a researcher (junior) in Analytical Chemistry (Department of Chemistry “Giacomo Ciamician”, University of Bologna). Part of her scientific activity involves the study of the cellular and molecular activities of bioactive molecules and nutraceuticals found in food or plant/herbal extracts to prevent or treat highly socially relevant diseases and to develop bioanalytical methods based on bio-chemiluminescence detection with applications in drug screening and diagnostics.
