Cristian Furau has proven himself a true leader of his generation in his field of expertise. He has combined his academic and research career with the clinical part and with healthcare management and policies. As a clinician, he became a senior specialist in obstetrics & gynecology with many subspecialty postgraduate competencies in this field. He benefited from fellowships at Szeged and Novi Sad Hospital and was nominated to be part of the Young Physician Leaders Program initiated by the InterAcademy Medical Panel. He was in charge of the Pathological Obstetrics and Delivery Room Departments with very good results and since 2016 he has been the coordinator for the operating theatre.
He is a well-established researcher with many articles published in international journals, with numerous presentations at international conferences. Dr Furau is a recognized reviewer for many international journals and was appointed guest editor for several issues. He is the head of the Pathophysiology Department and teaches obstetrics and gynecology as well at Western University Vasile Goldis of Arad, where since 2021 he has habilitated and coordinated PhD thesis. By serving as an executive committee member of the European Society for Contraception and e-Health, board member of international and national specialty societies, the president of the Ethical Committee at a > 1400-bed hospital, director for training in residency at the Medicine Faculty of the University of Arad, a member in other committees, responsible for a pilot project for maternal care in poor population and by his training in healthcare management, he shows great potential in the field of reproductive health.
Dr Furau has received several awards over the years is an acknowledged international speaker, and has very good organizing skills for medical educational events. He has developed very good international connections and he is very esteemed by his students and colleagues. Also, his communication and social skills, responsibility, ambition, and commitment are recommended to him.
