He is a Professor of Human Physiology and have been working in this area since 1997. He is passionate about research and the application of my work to enhance both performance and health. He work with elite and recreational athletes, military recruits and the general public and it is this work that provides me with a diverse range of experiences, which He enjoy immensely. He is passionate about all sport, whether individual or team based, playing or spectating (as a long suffering Portsmouth FC fan), and He is committed to promoting the benefits of exercise for health and well-being. Much of my previous research has been in the areas of muscle biochemistry, function and fatigue, particularly in respect to the effects of various nutritional interventions (most notably β-alanine supplementation). More recently He have started to work on the effects of exercise and diet on bone metabolism and bone health. He have an interest in applying this work across a wide range of populations including athletes, older individuals, those with disease and military recruits.
