Dr. Courtney M.P. Hollowell attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate and earned his medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine. While in medical school, Dr. Hollowell was the recipient of the coveted James Scholar Award, giving him a full-tuition research scholarship. He completed his general surgical and urological training at the prestigious University of Chicago. While at University of Chicago, he spent the last 6 months of his training as a clinical fellow in urologic oncology and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Hollowell has since joined the staff of Cook County Hospital and is the Chairman of Urology for the Cook County Health and Hospitals System, overseeing urological care at Stroger Hospital, Provident Hospital, Oak Forest Health Center, Cermak Health Services and the Cook County Department of Public Health. Dr. Hollowell has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is nationally recognized as an expert in urologic oncology (Prostate, Kidney, Bladder, Penile, and Testicular Cancer), genitourinary trauma/reconstructive surgery and men’s health issues. He is actively involved in basic science, translational and clinical research and is a National Cancer Institute Clinical Investigator. In addition, he is a former President of the Chicago Urological Society.
