Courtney Kennedy BSc, MSc, PhD

Courtney Kennedy is a Clinical Scientist/Associate Scientific Director at the GERAS Centre at Hamilton Health Sciences. She has a PhD in Health Research Methodology (McMaster), an MSc in Community Health (Queen’s) and a BSc in Psychology (Alberta). Dr. Kennedy is actively involved in trainee development including undergraduate and graduate students and as the Research Director for the Geriatric Medicine Residency program. Dr. Kennedy’s areas of expertise include gerontology, clinical epidemiology, and implementation science. Her current research interests are centred on: 1) mobility in aging 2) improving frailty assessment and care models 3) mind-body interventions for improving cognitive function. She is the research lead for the Dancing for Cognition and Exercise (DANCE) program funded by a 2018 Researcher-Clinician Partnership (RCP2) grant from the Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation. She is also co-investigator on the Fit-Joints RCT and Health Tapestry-TRIAGE.
Dr. Kennedy was a project recipient of the 2018 Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation Gala for her work on creating the Fit-Frailty App to improve the detection of frailty in routine clinical practice. In 2016, she received a Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Bone & Mineral Research and twice received an Osteoporosis Canada /CaMOS Study Fellowship. She is most passionate about interventions that improve the daily lives of older adults and their ability to function independently!.
