Collin Brooks has been part of the CPHR team since 2006 when he was originally employed as a laboratory technician after a number of years in similar roles conducting molecular and immunological research in the UK. Since then he has been employed as a junior research officer on several projects. Collin’s research interests are primarily focused on respiratory disease, and he has been involved in clinical and epidemiological studies investigating the inflammatory mechanisms underlying different asthma phenotypes. Much of this research to date has been published and is included in his Doctoral thesis, entitled ‘Non-invasive assessment of airway inflammation in asthma’. He is also interested in the causative, protective, and risk factors responsible for different asthma pathologies in populations of both children and adults. In 2020, Collin was awarded the Sir Charles Hercus Fellowship, which he says is an honor, as it is relatively rare for a public health researcher to receive one.
