Clive S. Cockram

Professor Cockram is the founder of the CUHK-PWH Diabetes and Endocrine Centre in 1984. He is currently an Emeritus Professor of the CUHK. At an international front, Professor Cockram serves as the chairman of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) – Western Pacific Region (WPR) Council, Vice President of the IDF and the Editor-in-Chief for Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, the official journal of the IDF.

Apart from serving as a consultant of the World Health Organization (WHO), Professor Cockram was instrumental in setting up the Western Pacific Declaration on Diabetes (WPDD), a strategic alliance between IDF-WPR, WHO-WPR and Secretariat of Pacific Community and its Plan of Action (2001-2005) to advocate changes in the environment and reform of health care system to control and prevent diabetes and related complications.
