Claudia Rose Borzutzky MD

Dr. Borzutzky is the CHLA Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Program Director, as well as the Medical Director of CHLA’s multi-disciplinary Empower Weight Management Clinic, a joint effort of the Divisions of Endocrinology and Adolescent Medicine, and the CHLA Diabetes and Obesity program, which opened its doors to patient care in 2014. Additionally, Dr. Borzutzky is also working to develop a comprehensive full-scope LARC (Long Acting Reversible Contraception) program for teens and young adults at CHLA.

Dr. Borzutzky's research interests include adolescent sexuality and reproductive health care, and obesity and fitness. She also has a particular interest in the delivery of culturally sensitive and competent medical care, and to caring for the medically underserved; she has a multi-cultural background and is a native Spanish speaker. She is a frequent lecturer, speaking on diverse topics such as pediatric obesity, as well as adolescent health and sexuality. She serves on both the Nutrition and Obesity and the Sexually Transmitted Infection Committees for the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine; she is also an instructor for the California HIV/STD Prevention Training Center. Most recently, she was recently appointed to the Adolescent Medicine Sub-board for the American Board of Pediatrics.
