Dr. Claudia Munoz-Zanzi, DVM, Ph.D.'s overall goal is to improve our understanding of zoonotic infections and other emerging infectious diseases, especially in a global context, as these infections are often linked to poverty and inadequate living conditions. Claudia Munoz-Zanzi specifically studies leptospirosis (a bacteria spread through urine) and toxoplasmosis (a parasitic infection) and seek to identify the determinants of transmission between humans and animals, as well as interventions that are appropriate for limited-resource populations.
