Dr. Claudette Lajam is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in both total joint replacement and sports reconstruction surgery. She is Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief Safety Officer at the NYU Langone Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Lajam graduated with honors from Cornell University Weill Medical College and completed her Orthopaedic residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Lajam went on to a fellowship in joint reconstruction at the Insall Scott Kelly Institute at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. She is on the editorial board for The Journal of Arthroplasty and the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases Bulletin and has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences. Research interests include indications for total joint arthroplasty, value based medicine, and blood management strategies.

Dr. Lajam is a host of The Orthopaedics Show on SiriusXM 110 Doctor Radio. You can listen to her on Monday nights from 6-8 pm East. She has been featured on CBS This Morning, ABC News with Diane Sawyer, Al-Jazeera English and other national and international television programs. She has appeared in Vogue, O Magazine, and The New York Times. Dr. Lajam is dedicated to service to both her profession and her community. She serves on the AAOS Communications Cabinet, the Board of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, and was an AAOS Leadership Fellow. She served as a volunteer physician for USA Cycling and cares for both professional and amateur athletes. She volunteers and has served on medical missions to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. She and her husband volunteer locally as active members of their Community Emergency Response Team, which provides disaster assistance at the local level. Of Dominican descent, Dr. Lajam is fluent in the Spanish language.
