Ciro Indolfi is a Full Professor of Cardiology, Director of the URT of the CNR of the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro, Director of the Complex Operational Unit of Cardiology-Hemodynamics-UTIC, Director of the Research Center of Cardiovascular Diseases of the Magna Graecia University. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1979 from the Federico II University of Naples where, in the same year, he also obtained the qualification to practice the profession.

In 1982 he specialized in Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of Florence. In 1985 he specialized in Sports Medicine at the Federico II University of Naples. In 1984 he was a visiting scientist at the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory of the NIH, Bethesda, MD, USA. He was an assistant (1986-87) at the Division of Cardiology of the University of California, San Diego, La Jolla, directed by Dr. John Ross Jr. He was awarded the title of Official of the Republic for Scientific Merit by the President of the Republic. He is a consultant to the Ministry of Health for the evaluation of medical devices. He was President of the Italian Society of Invasive Cardiology (GISE) and is currently President of the Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC). He was a member of the Minimal Data Setting Commission of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), and a member of the ESC Commission for guidelines on valvular heart disease. He is a reviewer of the ESC Coronary Angioplasty guidelines. He is listed by the VIA Academy as a Top Italian Scientist (TIS) with an H-Index of 53. In recent years Prof. Indolfi has particularly dedicated himself to the organization of complex systems in medicine, creating laboratories at the Magna Graecia University for advanced molecular cardiology cardiovascular research, in vivo animal physiology laboratories in genetically modified animals, equipped with advanced cardiovascular imaging equipment.
