Cilla Haywood MBBS, PhD

Dr Cilla Haywood graduated medicine with honours in 2002 from the University of Melbourne. She then went on to junior doctor training at Austin and Northern Hospitals, obtaining her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2010. Subsequently, she undertook doctor of philosophy studies on obesity in older persons under the supervision of Professor Joe Proietto. Her study demonstrated the safety and efficacy of very low energy diets in older obese persons, and her PhD was conferred in 2016.

Currently, she is a consultant general physician and geriatrician at Austin Health and Northern Health, and consults at the weight control clinic at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital. This is in addition to participating in teaching of junior doctors, and undertaking further research, as well as enjoying crossfit and travelling.
