Dr. Cigdem Akincioglu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, and a staff physician at London Health Sciences Centre, Canada. She completed her medical degree and residency training at Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey, followed by a fellowship in Cardiac Imaging at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, USA.

Dr. Akincioglu joined Western University in 2006 and was appointed Associate Professor in 2010. She is board-certified in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, with clinical expertise in diagnostic nuclear medicine, cardiac imaging, molecular imaging, and theranostics.

She served as the Nuclear Medicine Residency Program Director from 2010 to 2020, playing a key role in Royal College accreditation processes and the implementation of competency-based medical education. Dr. Akincioglu has held several leadership positions in national and international professional organizations, including the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and has served as a Royal College Accreditation Surveyor.

Her research interests focus on cardiac imaging protocols, hybrid and fusion imaging techniques, and the clinical application of novel tracers in myocardial imaging.
