Dr. Christopher Stamm, MD is a Cardiac Surgeon at the German Heart Institute Berlin in Germany. He is also a Professor at Charity and Principal Investigator at the Berlin Institute of Health. Surgically, he trained in Munich, Goettingen, and Rostock (Germany), where he was appointed assistant professor of cardiac surgery in 2003. His scientific training includes research fellowships at the National Heart & Lung Institute in London, UK, and at Children’s Hospital Boston/Harvard University, USA. Dr. Stamm’s group has pioneered the clinical application of bone marrow stem cells in cardiac surgical patients. His basic and clinical research activities focus on cell therapy and tissue engineering approaches for the treatment of patients with severe ischemic heart disease.
