Christopher Montera is the Chief Executive Officer at Eagle County Health Service District a/k/a Eagle County Paramedic Services and holds a Master’s in Health Leadership which is a degree that emphasizes population health, healthcare innovation, and transformation. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, and an Associate’s Degree in Paramedicine. His career has been dedicated to the service of his community with more than 32 years of experience in Paramedic Services, Public Health, and the Fire Service.

Christopher Montera has received numerous awards for his service and was named one of the top 10 EMS Innovators of the Year in 2010 by the Journal of Emergency Medical Services and PhysioControl. Chris is the Treasurer of the Emergency Medical Services Association of Colorado and the Central Mountains Regional Emergency Medical and Trauma Advisory Council. Chris was instrumental in creating the first rural Community Paramedic program in the United States in 2009. In 2018, he created a co-responder program that utilizes Community Paramedics and Crisis Clinicians to respond to mental health emergencies in Eagle County and has reduced off-scene ambulance transport by 81% by treating patients at home.
