Christopher S. Hollenbeak MA, PhD

Christopher S. Hollenbeak, Ph.D. is a Professor and Head of the Department of Health Policy and Administration at the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Hollenbeak has broad interests in health economics and health outcomes research, with a particular focus on economic issues in surgery. In previous research, he has studied modifications to the kidney allocation mechanism, estimated the cost-effectiveness of screening for head and neck cancer, and estimated the burden of surgical site infections after major abdominal and cardiothoracic surgical procedures. Dr. Hollenbeak received his doctorate in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis, where he studied Bayesian econometrics under Ed Greenberg and Siddhartha Chib. He uses Bayesian methods in meta-analysis and to fit nonlinear risk adjustment models for continuous hospital performance measures.
