Chris Griffiths qualified in Medicine from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London. He trained in Dermatology at St Mary’s Hospital, London, and at the University of Michigan, USA, where he was on Faculty for 4 years. He was appointed to the Foundation Chair in Dermatology at the University of Manchester in 1994 and is an honorary consultant dermatologist at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. At the University of Manchester he has held several posts including Faculty Research Dean and Director of the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre. He currently leads for precision medicine and the University in the DevoManc initiative.
He received a lifetime achievement award from the American Skin Association in 2009, the Sir Archibald Gray Medal for outstanding service to British Dermatology in 2015, the Society of Cosmetic Scientists’ Medal (2016) and an American Academy of Dermatology Presidential Cittaion (2016). He is an NIHR Senior Investigator, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and elected Member of Academia Europaea.
