Christoph Reissfelder MD

Professor Reissfelder has the specialist qualifications "Surgery", "Vascular Surgery" and "Visceral Surgery with the additional qualification Special Visceral Surgery". He is also a clinical trial investigator and has radiation protection expertise. His clinical priorities include the surgical treatment of cancer, especially on the esophagus, liver, pancreas, bile, and rectum. He has special knowledge in minimally invasive surgery and robot-assisted surgery with the DaVinci system established in the UMM.

Professor Reissfeld's research focuses on oncology: Here he mainly deals with tumor immunology and the spread of cancer cells from gastrointestinal tumors. In addition, he drives the further development of minimally invasive surgical techniques, also with the support of robot assistance systems. "In Mannheim, I see highly interesting starting points for both research fields, for example in the established research areas of oncology and medical technology, the Fraunhofer Project Group for Automation in Medicine and Biotechnology (PAMB) or the Medical Technology Cluster," emphasizes Reissfelder.
