Dr. Christoph Fusch obtained his M.D. (1984) and pediatric education at the University of Tuebingen, Germany. After completing his training in MR research and Neonatology in Zurich and Berne, Switzerland in 1997, he obtained his Ph.D. Dr. Fusch was Professor and Chair of Neonatology at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University Greifswald, Germany since December 1997. During this time Dr. Fusch successfully transformed the unit into a modern perinatal centre with a strong clinical and research program.

He was the acting Medical Director and President of the Executive Board, University Hospital at Greifswald. He authored more than 100 scientific papers which were published in several journals, such as American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Pediatric Research, JCEM, etc. He also made contribution to books in neonatal intensive care, nutrition, and placenta research. He has refereed several scientific conferences including European Society Paediatric Research (ESPR), European Society of Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (ESPEN), etc.

Dr. Fusch has received continuous funding from government and private sectors for his research including from the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and the Swiss National Research Foundation (SNF). He is a member of several international organizations including the Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS), the Canadian Neonatal Network (CNN) Steering Committee, the German Pediatric Society, the German Society of Newborn Screening, the European Society for Paediatric Research, Swiss Society for Pediatrics, and Swiss Society for Neonatology. He is the first to hold the position of Jack Sinclair Chair in Neonatology at McMaster University.
