Professor Christine Pitocco earned her B.S. in Medical Biology from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, Greenvale, NY. She earned her M.S. in Management and Public Policy with an Advanced Certificate in Management Information Systems from Stony Brook University. She earned a Ph.D. in Information Studies from Long Island University, C.W. Post campus.Prior to joining the School of Health Technology and Management, Professor Pitocco was the evening supervisor at Stony Brook University Hospital’s blood bank. She continues to work there on a per diem basis.

Professor Pitocco teaches Immunohematology, Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and Advanced Seminar in Clinical Laboratory Sciences for the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program. In her capacity as adjunct professor for the Bachelor of Science in Health Science major, she teaches Issues in Health Care, Medical Informatics, and Introduction to Health Care Management As an adjunct in the Master's in healthcare Policy and Management she teaches Fundamentals of Healthcare Management and Clinical Information and Communication Systems.

In addition to her teaching duties, Professor Pitocco is a general faculty advisor for the Department of Academic Advising on the Stony Brook campus, and she is a rotating faculty advisor for the Stony Brook University Orientation Program. She has authored and co-authored several articles published in peer reviewed journals and textbooks. She has been an invited speaker for national conferences and workshops for lab professionals affiliated with ASCP and CLMA.
