Dr. Christine Colvis joined NCATS in June 2012 as the Center’s director of drug development partnership programs. Her team is best known for leading the Discovering New Therapeutic Uses for Existing Molecules (New Therapeutic Uses) program, which supports pre-clinical and clinical research using investigational drugs provided by pharmaceutical company partners for disease indications not being pursued by the companies. For the program’s pilot phase, Colvis led the implementation of template agreements that shortened the time required to establish a collaboration between an academic institution and a pharmaceutical company, enabling research efforts to get off the ground faster.

Before joining NCATS, Colvis was a program director at the National Institute on Drug Abuse. She completed postdoctoral research at the National Eye Institute after receiving her Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
