Professor Christina Messiou is a Consultant Radiologist at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. She is is now a core member of multidisciplinary teams for sarcoma, melanoma and skin cancer and haemato-oncology, maintaining an active research profile in these units. She is a member of the EORTC Imaging group and in 2012 was appointed chair of the imaging subcommittee for the EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group. In 2014 she was appointed Roentgen Professor by the Royal College of Radiologists and also became a member of the Royal College of Radiologists Academic Committee. She is also a member of the NCRI Imaging Expert Advisory Panel.
As an oncology radiologist, she specializes in imaging of myeloma, melanoma, and soft tissue sarcoma. Professor Messiou leads imaging research in these areas and has published widely. Following on from her early research in bone imaging she was one of the first radiologists to provide a comprehensive whole-body diffusion-weighted MRI service for patients with myeloma and is established internationally as an authority
