Prof. Dr. med. Christian Krettek, FRACS, FRCSEd came in 1982 after studying and after two years of studies at the Institute of Pharmacology, the University of Munich at the Hannover Medical School, and even went through the classic wide surgical training in the clinics of the professors Tscherne, Pichlmayr, and bristle. There was a clear clinical and academic focus on severe trauma and musculoskeletal problems from the beginning. After the habilitation and apl. Professorship, most recently as a chief medical officer, offers followed by full-time positions in Germany and overseas. In 1999 he accepted the call for the first professorship of its kind in Australia as a professor of traumatology at Monash University in Melbourne and quickly expanded the newly acquired trauma clinic at the Alfred Hospital to the largest trauma provider on the 5th continent.

This international experience has had a decisive influence on his career. Since his appointment to the Department of Trauma Surgery at Hannover Medical School (MHH) in 2000, as director of the Trauma Surgery Clinic, he is not only leading the clinic in the sense of its founder but also revitalizing it with innovative and international impulses Areas of severe injury, navigation and robotics, and tissue engineering.

Prof. Krettek has been awarded numerous national and international research awards. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd), and an honorary member of the Hellenic Association of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (HAOST). He is a founding member of the International Society of Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery (CAOS International), for many years a member of the board of the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU), the German Society for Plastic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery (DGPW) and the German Society for Computer and Robot Assistants surgery(CURAC) and founded the Trauma Foundation in 2004.
