Christian Kastrup PhD

Dr. Christian Kastrup is a Canadian biochemist and bioengineer who is a co-founder of NanoVation Therapeutics (NTx), a biotechnology company developing advanced lipid nanoparticle (LNP) platforms for genetic and nucleic acid drug delivery. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he leads research in biochemistry, hematology, and bioengineering.

His scientific work focuses on the interface of blood biology and therapeutic delivery systems, particularly the engineering of lipid nanoparticles for targeted gene and RNA-based therapies. He has contributed to pioneering studies on mRNA-loaded LNPs for modifying platelets and other blood components, with applications in regenerative medicine, clotting disorders, and cancer therapy. Through NanoVation Therapeutics, Kastrup plays a key role in advancing next-generation drug delivery technologies aimed at extending the reach of genetic medicines beyond traditional target organs.
