Prof. Dr. med. Christian A. Schneider studied medicine at the University of Frankfurt aM, where he received his doctorate in 1989 on the treatment of acute myocardial infarction. After a research stay as a scholarship holder of the Boehringer Ingelheim fund for basic research in Houston Texas, USA, since 1990 he was at the heart center of the University of Cologne, Clinic III for internal medicine (cardiology, pneumology, angiology, internal intensive care medicine) medical-clinically active.
Prof. Schneider is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology. Other key aspects of his clinical work include: diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus, hypertension and heart failure. Since 2004 he has worked as senior physician and head of the polyclinic as well as the heart failure and heart transplant clinic at the Heart Center of the University of Cologne. In 2008 he was appointed associate professor of the medical faculty of the University of Cologne. Since 2010 he has worked as a cardiologist and internist in the PAN Clinic Cologne . His research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure. Since 2005, doctoral work in this area has been continuously supervised.
