Dr. Claes is working as Scientist II at Dragonfly Therapeutics. She is a postdoc at the Blurton-Jones lab (California), former PhD student at the Verfaillie lab, and De Strooper lab (Belgium), and she is passionately curious and devoted to helping find a cure for Alzheimer's Disease.
She focuses on how multiple AD risk factors affect the many functions of human microglia throughout aging and disease in hPSC-derived microglia models in vitro and in vivo after transplantation in humanized Alzheimer's mouse models. She strongly believes such models will elucidate fundamental abnormalities and will enable us to uncover leads that can alter the diverse stages of neuroinflammation to ultimately nip Alzheimer's disease.
