Christa E Fluck is Professor for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology at the Bern University Children’s Hospital in Bern, Switzerland. She was trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology in Lucerne and Bern, Switzerland, and did a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of California San Francisco, USA, where she started her research career in the field of molecular endocrinology of steroid hormone biosynthesis.

Her own research group at the University of Bern studies patients with rare disorders of steroidogenesis and disorders of sex development. On the other hand, the group also investigates regulatory mechanisms controlling human androgen production and novel androgen-producing pathways (e.g. the backdoor pathway) using 'omics approaches. She is the PI of the Swiss DSD Cohort study and presently coordinator of the I-DSD science panel, in addition, member of the research commission of the University of Bern as well as the research commission of the European Society Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE). Honors received: 2005 Young Investigator Award of ESPE. 2007 Theodor Kocher Prize of the University of Bern. 2018 Research Award of ESPE.
