Dr Chris Sadler is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Barts Health NHS Trust with special interests in Obstetrics and Simulation. He is currently Training Programme Director for Barts & The London School of Anaesthesia. In 2000, Chris led on the design, build and opening of Barts & The London Medical Simulation Centre and was director of the centre until 2013. He is now Director of Strategy for Simulation & Essential Clinical Skills at Barts Health. They deliver a broad range of training to diverse groups including school children, medical students, foundation programme doctors, nurses, consultants and multiprofessional teams. As well as training technical and clinical skills we focus heavily on human factors and patient safety.
Chris’ particular interest lies in team training in obstetric practice. He was lead for the development of the MOSES course and is actively involved in simulation and human factors training on our Labour Ward at The Royal London. In addition, he is part of the founding faculty for the EuSim Instructors Course (collaboration between Barts Health, Copenhagen and Tuebingen). He is Chair of the UCLP Simulation Strategy Group, and sits on the Clinical Human Factors Group; a national organisation whose aim is to promote the implementation of human factors throughout healthcare for the benefit of patient safety. He is also a primary FRCA examiner.
