Chris Hurlstone

Chris joined Team Consulting in 1994 with a mechanical engineering background in the offshore industry and now has over twenty years of product innovation experience in the healthcare sector. He combines technical input and review with project planning and management activities. His experience covers all stages of the product life cycle working with companies ranging from small start-ups to large multi-national organizations.

Chris has particular expertise in the development and industrialization of drug delivery devices including dry powder and pressurized metered-dose inhalers and injection systems including pen injectors, auto-injectors, and needle-free injectors. He has also worked on the development of surgical and diagnostic products including implants and an award-winning ophthalmoscope. Chris has extensive experience in the field of design verification and risk management and has written and presented articles and papers on many aspects of device development.

In other work at Team, Chris has been involved in the development and exploitation of intellectual property and he had a key role in the formation of a new company to manufacture a novel diagnostic tool, developed by Team. In his role as Director of Engineering, he is responsible for the ongoing quality and continuous improvement of the Team’s overall engineering offering including mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronics, and software engineering. In this role, he also liaises closely with Team’s Industrial Design and Human Factors groups.
