Chontel Gibson is a Kamilaroi woman and was awarded an occupational therapy degree from University of Sydney, in 2000. Since this time, Chontel has worked as an occupational therapist, policy officer and academic, holding many leadership roles, including Board Director of Occupational Therapy Australia and the inaugural Deputy Chairperson for Indigenous Allied Health Australia. Chontel co-developed and continues to co-chair the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Occupational Therapy Network, which provides strategic advice in relation to occupational therapy. Chontel currently works at University of Sydney. She recently completed a PHD, which focussed on working older Aboriginal people and social and emotional wellbeing.
