Dr. Desai is an associate professor of Surgery with MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute. Board certified in liver, intestine and kidney transplantation, his special interests also include hepatobiliary surgeries and autologous islet cell transplantation.
Dr. Desai also developed the novel technique of total pancreatectomy for chronic pancreatitis and autologous islet cell transplantation. He has more than 40 publications in reputed journals as well as research grants from organizations such as the National Pancreas Foundation.
