Chet Metcalf has over 20 years of pharmaceutical experience focused on drug discovery. He has led cross-functional teams whose efforts led to the discovery of multiple lead compounds and development candidates, including 6 clinical compounds (notably ridaforolimus, surotomycin, Iclusig/ponatinib) across oncology, anti-infectives, and pain.
He is co-author of over 80 publications and issued patents. Currently, he holds the position of Executive Director, Global Discovery Chemistry at Novartis. Prior to joining Novartis, Chet held positions at Cerulean Pharma (Head of Discovery Chemistry & Technology), Cubist (VP, Discovery Chemistry) and ARIAD (Research Director). Chet received his Ph.D. in Organic Synthesis from Yale.
