Charlotte Pawlyn MBBChir, MA, PhD, FRCP, FRCPath

Dr Charlotte Pawlyn is a Haematologist and CRUK Clinician Scientist with an interest in the bone marrow malignancy of multiple myeloma. In 2020 she became Team Leader of the Myeloma Biology and Therapeutics Team in the Division of Cancer Therapeutics. Dr Pawlyn received her degrees in Pharmacology and Medicine from St John’s College, University of Cambridge, UK. She completed her initial medical training in the East Anglian and North London deaneries and aematology specialty training at the Royal Marsden Hospital and in the South West London Deanery.

In 2016, Dr Pawlyn completed a Wellcome Trust funded PhD Fellowship at The Institute of Cancer Research, undertaking laboratory research to identify novel epigenetic targets for myeloma therapy. During her PhD was awarded a ‘Women in Cancer Research Scholar Award’ from the American Association of Cancer Research.

Dr Pawlyn was awarded a CRUK Clinician Scientist Fellowship in 2020 to fund her laboratory research which focuses on identifying therapeutic targets to improve outcomes for patients with immunomodulatory drug-resistant and high-risk myeloma. In addition to her laboratory studies Dr Pawlyn is actively involved in running several clinical trials as a member of the UK NCRI group, the UK Myeloma Research Alliance (UKMRA), including the large national frontline studies, Myeloma XI and Myeloma XIV. She is a member of the Research Advisory Group for the Myeloma UK charity.
