Dr. Niebylski serves as Strategic Alliances Manager for the National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) providing award-winning service negotiating strategic collaborative agreements and developing new models for IP and technology business development. Charles began his career in biotech IP law during the 1990’s biotech boom successfully guiding large, mid-sized, and start-up clients with IP protection, acquisition, and market launch of a wide variety of therapeutics, biomedical technologies, materials, and devices. He also has 17 years of experience as a bench scientist in basic, applied, and clinical research, and was awarded a National Research Council NIH fellowship and degrees from the University of Notre Dame (BS), Wayne State University (MS, PhD), and Columbus School of Law (JD). He often speaks to local, national, and international audiences on new collaborative models for advancing early discoveries and translational sciences, and has served on various scientific boards and IP legal committees. After rising to law firm partner he returned to the NIH in 2011 to help strategically redefine the biomedical research-technology development interface and public-private partnership models for the benefit of future generations.
