Dr. Charles Saltzman is the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah where he serves as the LS Peery Presidential Endowed Professor. For over two decades, Saltzman has focused on improving the physical function of patients with limited mobility. His primary interests include the care of patients with ankle injuries and arthritis, sports injuries of the leg, ankle, and foot, and those with tendon, ligament, cartilage, or bone problems of their feet. He has helped develop new methods for the treatment of ankle arthritis (ankle fusion & ankle replacement), midfoot arthritis, ankle/hindfoot arthroscopy, and forefoot problems.

Dr. Saltzman currently serves the field of Orthopaedics in the United States as Senior Director of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and Editor in Chief of the flagship scientific journals Foot & Ankle International and Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics. He is a co-Editor of the premier textbook "Mann's Surgery of Foot and Ankle." Past President of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Past President of the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies, and Past President of the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons.

Dr. Saltzman focuses his clinical practice on two primary areas of great need where he has longstanding and deep expertise: 1) Adult ankle problems (torn ligaments or tendons, problems with arthritis, and bone or cartilage injuries ) and 2) Complex foot and ankle problems of 8-21-year-olds.
