Charles C. Flippen II, MD, FAAN, FANA, is the Richard and Ruth Walter Professor of Neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (DGSOM) where he is Vice-Chair for Education, Director of the Neurology Residency Training program, Chair of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and sub-specialist in Headache Medicine. He is a Director on the board of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) where he serves as Treasurer of the AAN. He is a past American Neurological Association, Special Interest Group in Education co-chair.
Dr. Flippen is active in headache education having directed courses in headache therapy and evaluation at UCLA, the AAN, and the lay community. In addition to his leadership in medical education, he has also been a voice in the specialty on disparities in neurological care and addressing the issues and inclusion of members of communities that are underrepresented in neurology through pipeline programs, mentoring, and resource allocation. Within his community of Los Angeles, Dr. Flippen has leadership roles in the Beta Psi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Delta Xi Boule’ of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Viscount Foundation, and 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, Inc.
