Biography :

Charles E. Murry, M.D., Ph.D., is a pathologist with clinical expertise in heart and vascular system diseases. He is director of the UW Center for Cardiovascular Biology and director of the UW Institute for Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Murry earned his M.D. and Ph.D. at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He completed residency training in anatomic pathology, and clinical and research fellowships in cardiovascular pathology at UW.

His clinical interests include atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease and cardiovascular genetics. His research interests include cardiovascular stem cell biology, heart regeneration, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, cardiovascular genetics and gene therapy. Dr. Murry, an award-winning teacher, teaches extensively at the UW medical and graduate schools. He also co-directs a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Training Grant in cardiovascular biology.
