Charles C. Della Santina MD, PhD

Dr. Charles Della Santina specializes in treatment of disorders of the ear including the restoration of hearing (via cochlear implantation and other implantable devices for treatment of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss) and management of patients who suffer from vestibular disorders including Menieres disease, superior canal dehiscence syndrome, bilateral loss of vestibular sensation due to gentamicin ototoxicity and other disorders.

As a PhD biomedical engineer, electrical engineer and neurophysiologist, Dr. Della Santina founded and directs the Johns Hopkins Vestibular NeuroEngineering Lab (VNEL). His laboratory research centers on development of a multichannel vestibular prosthesis, a bionic inner ear implant intended to restore sensation of head movement and reduce imbalance and oscillopsia.
