Charalambos Gogos was born in Patras, Achaia, Greece. He obtained his medical degree from the Athens University School of Medicine in 1979, and served in the Greek army. He was trained in Medicine and Infectious Diseases in Patras University, Section of Infectious Diseases as well as Clatterbridge Hospital, NHS Trust and Royal Liverpool University Hospital, UK. He is currently Professor of Medicine at Patras University School of Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Director of the Infectious Diseases Unit in Patras University Hospital.
He has been the President of the Medical School of the University of Patras, from 2009 to 2013 and he is the Vice President of Hellenic Society of Chemotherapy, Vice President of Hellenic AIDS Society and Member of the council of the Hellenic Society in Infectious Diseases. He is now the Vice President of the Board of Trustees of the University of Patras. His research interest is focused on immunology and infectious diseases, mainly on the pathogenesis of sepsis syndrome.
