Dr. Brazeau is Professor of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). She received her MD degree in 1983 from the University of Ottawa before completing her residency in Family Medicine. She practiced for 5 ½ years in a family medicine group practice and then entered the (then) UMDNJ Psychiatry Residency program which she completed in 1995. She maintains board certification in both Psychiatry and Family Medicine.

She has been a Faculty at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School since 1995, Director of Medical Student Education in the Department of Family Medicine since 2001, Interim Chair of the Department since 2012 and Assistant Dean for Faculty Vitality since 2016. Her areas of professional interest include: the doctor-patient relationship, issues related to the provision of mental health in primary care medicine, as well as ethics, humanism and professionalism.

She has a special interest in medical student and physician well-being and burnout prevention; she has conducted local and national research on this topic and presented her work at national and international meetings. Her work as Assistant Dean for Faculty Vitality focuses on faculty and leadership development workshops on faculty well-being and development of a school-wide task force on faculty vitality.
