Chandy Skaria Ellimoottil is an Associate Professor of Urology at Michigan Medicine. After graduating with a degree in Economics from Northwestern University in 2004, Dr. Ellimoottil subsequently completed medical school and urology residency at Loyola University Medical Center. During his residency, he completed a master’s degree in Health and Healthcare Research through the Rackham Graduate School at the University of Michigan. He has clinical expertise in prostate cancer detection and treatment of enlarged prostate (BPH). For prostate cancer detection, he specializes in advanced biopsy techniques such as MRI-fusion biopsy and transperineal biopsy. For the surgical management of BPH, he specializes in Rezum and bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate. In addition to his clinical expertise, he has a large research portfolio focused on optimizing the delivery of virtual care. He has over 90 scientific publications and has received multiple grants for research. He has received multiple awards for clinical care and research including Michigan Medicine’s “Making a Difference Award”, Loyola University’s Magis Star for Excellent Patient Care, HCUP’s Outstanding Article of the Year Award, and American Urological Association North Central Section Young Health Policy Investigator Award. Dr. Ellimoottil performs surgeries and procedures in Ann Arbor and sees clinic patients at Michigan Medicine’s Livonia satellite clinic.
