Dr. Sundaram completed his urology residency at the University of Minnesota and his fellowship in endourology at the Harvard Medical School affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Before joining the faculty at Indiana University, he was director of the fellowship in minimally invasive urology at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Sundaram performed the first urologic robotic surgery in Indiana (2002) and has been President of the Society of Urological Robotic Surgeons. The department of minimally invasive surgery program is active with several studies to develop new techniques in robotic and laparoscopic urologic surgery. Dr. Sundaram directs the nationally recognized fellowship in minimally invasive urologic surgery. He has over 140 peer reviewed publications in several journals and is actively involved in several urologic organizations. He is a Section Editor in the Journal of Endourology and chair of the American Urological Association Committee on Laparoscopy, Robotic Surgery and New Surgical Technology. He has been invited faculty and speaker at multiple national and international meetings.
